External Funding

Research funding is also available from many external sources. This section of the Researcher's Guide exists to aid researchers in increasing their awareness of the details involved with applying for external funding.

The Principal Investigator's responsibilities include:

  1. Determining the funding agency to which he/she wishes to apply;
  2. Completing all application forms respecting all agency requirements;
  3. Obtaining requested signatures and approvals;
  4. The conduct of the research project and the overall sound administration of all research funds allocated to the project;
  5. The proper allocation of these funds; and
  6. Sound financial management.

Internal Funding

The University of Ottawa offers its researchers several sources of internal funding. This funding allows researchers to become better known in their fields, and encourages the development of new research areas. Funds are awarded through a competitive process
